Good First Food Recipe for Babies

No babies are the same. When they turn six months old, some become hyper-active tiny humans who will grab foods from anyone and are eager to explore different culinary experiences, yet some others are just too shy to start their first solid foods journey. However, we can guide our babies to the door of first foods exploration by guiding them patiently.

Finger foods
The most common starter menu for 6 to 9 months old babies involve finger foods, which are basically food cut in little pieces. This is the perfect age to start eating finger foods since babies generally start learning to grasp objects with their little fingers. Even if your baby doesn’t have any teeth around that age, he can still chew some foods with his gums.

Introduce a type of finger food until your baby becomes familiar and continue with new ones. Just give your babies few pieces first and if he doesn’t like the foods, just try again later. I always started with grain products such as small pieces of tortilla, cereals such as Cheerios, healthy muffin, toast without crust, and pasta.

Then, I also added some vegetable-based menu such as diced and cooked carrots, small chunks of sweet potato, cooked asparagus and various types of lentil and green beans soup. Fruits are also very healthy to introduce during the stage.

Small pieces of small banana and avocado, cooked pear and baked diced apples as well as melons are usually baby’s favorites. I learned some useful fruit recipes because many fruits are soft enough to manage for babies. For variations, you can also give your baby some cheese, scrambled eggs (maybe just the yolks), small tofu cubes, and very small sandwiches with cheese or banana filling.

My baby’s favorite food
My husband used to enjoy cooking delicious homemade baby foods. He used salmon as the main ingredient. After looking it up, I found that the fish is good since baby needs the essential fatty acids.

To cook the salmon into a delicious baby dish, first put some salmon fillet and butter into the microwave until they are cooked. Add some heated organic tomato, carrot or cheese sauce and blend it well with the fish. The cooking process is easy and the baby likes it. Besides, we can store the leftover in the freezer to use again for dinner.
