Delicious Foods for 6 to 9-month Old Babies

When your little one turns six months, it is probably time to introduce the baby to solid foods. Of course, the baby’s first foods cannot be anything hard to swallow. It also shouldn’t consist of certain content which probably is okay for adults. Remember, baby still has different body mechanism.

If this is your first time feeding your baby real food, start with some cereals and grains first, such as barley, oats, semolina and white or brown rice. There are common cooking methods for these materials out there; some of them are even instantaneous and safe so you don’t have to do trials and errors for your baby.

If you think your baby are ready to start eating small bites, try preparing some finger foods. When my baby boy was six months old, he could not bite because he hadn’t grown some enough teeth. Yet, some experts told me that it was okay to start giving him small tofu cubes, cooked carrot slices, or cooked peaches.

Fruit and meat are healthy combination

On my baby’s first Thanksgiving dinner, my Mom cooked him something really special. She combined fruit recipes and turkey into something healthy and appropriate for kids. My baby liked it so much. I asked her the secret because I wanted to cook the same dish myself.

The turkey was cooked with apple casserole. The ingredients were some turkey; peeled organic apples cut in dices, and cooked brown rice. The latter can be replaced with whole wheat spaghetti. For seasoning, my mom didn’t use salt. She also put some cinnamon, ginger, and apple juice in the ingredients.

To cook the dish, first add the turkey and the seasoning to a pot. Then, use medium heat to sauté the turkey and stir it. The meat will absorb the spices. In 15 minutes, the turkey will be ready. On another pot, sauté cinnamon and ginger with the diced apples. After the apples are soft, blend them with the turkey. Don’t forget to cut the spaghetti into small bites. Serve the dish with apple juice. Alternatively, we can also use breast milk.

There are many other homemade baby foods out there which combine good taste and important nutrients. Introduce your baby slowly and patiently to the solid foods.
